From 2009 to 2012, I had a blog called A Hungry Artist. It mainly functioned as a creative outlet for exploring abstract topics as it related to food. A lot of the content was obscure, posting schedules weren’t consistent, and well, I had not yet found my path.
Since then, I have worked in the corporate world and on my own. My style has certainly changed, my writing has evolved, and along the way, I found a love for history, more specifically Miami history, and at the micro level, Miami food history. I also wrote 2 books on the topic- The Sizzling History of Miami Cuisine: Cortaditos, Stone Crabs and Empanadas and Discovering Vintage Miami.
The digital world has forever changed how history is recorded and preserved. I find it fascinating and want to contribute my own piece to the puzzle. Welcome! This site exists to serve 2 distinct purposes. Magic City Vintage will be an ever-evolving compendium of Miami history. On a less formal level, the Articles section will house all of my other writing and span topics from gastronomy to travel and everything in between.
